Public
Opinion Summaries and Other Secondary Research
Secondary research refers to identifying,
compiling, organizing, and/or synthesizing existing data or
information. It does not involve generating new data
through interviews, self-administered surveys, or
qualitative research. A public opinion summary is one
variety of secondary research, but it can involve compiling
other types of information too.
Public Opinion
Summaries
Do you need to know how people feel or what they believe
about a current issue or subject, political candidate, or
proposed policy? Would you like to know what the trend has
been over time or how different groups in the population
compare in their views? With the growth of opinion
databases and archives, much information from public
opinion polls is retained and available. Some of it is
free; other results can be obtained only through paid
subscription.
Groeneman Research and Consulting has used most major
institutional sources of public opinion findings to prepare
customized summaries and analyses for clients. This service
includes more than simply accessing and organizing the raw
data. Our summaries offer a thoughtful, interpretive
synthesis as well - a clearly written analysis of the
numbers that provides a comprehensive understanding
informed by doctoral-level education in public opinion
research.
Other
Secondary Research
In this age of information abundance, the number of new or
expanded sources increases each day. Counting just
traditional sources - let alone what's available on the
Internet - it is easy to feel overwhelmed when a project
calls for quick familiarization with some new area,
refreshing one's knowledge or getting "up to speed" in some
specialized content area related to an existing or proposed
research project.
Using the Internet as well as the myriad specialized
resources around Washington in government, universities,
the "independent sector" and the private sector, GR&C
can help. We have conducted secondary research for 20
years, often to provide background, context, or perspective
in support of primary consumer or policy research.
Sometimes, simply knowing who to call upon is the key to
unlocking the information or advice sought. GR&C has
built an extensive network of contacts spanning many
issues, industries, and policy areas. GR&C is
well-equipped to assist you with secondary research by
performing thorough information searches and highly
professional literature reviews.
