The
National Cancer Institute's Cancer Bulletin Subscriber
Survey
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is a
component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), one
of eight agencies that compose the Public Health Service
(PHS) in the Department of Health and Human Services
(DHHS). The NCI, established under the National Cancer
Institute Act of 1937, is the Federal Government's
principal agency for cancer research and training.
Dissemination of information about cancer is among its
chief mandates.
The Academy for Educational Development
(http://www.aed.org) is an independent, nonprofit
organization committed to solving critical social problems
and building the capacity of individuals, communities, and
institutions to become more self-sufficient. AED works in
all the major areas of human development, with a focus on
improving education, health, and economic opportunities for
the least advantaged in the United States and developing
countries throughout the world.
Groeneman Research & Consulting worked with AED on a
project to evaluate the National Cancer Institute’s
bi-weekly Cancer Bulletin. The evaluation was based on an
online survey of the Bulletin’s current subscribers.
GR&C consulted on development of the survey instrument
and is now working with AED on other work for the NCI.
